
Peggy Plett
Peggy Plett is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Benefits and Services, with responsibility
for administering retirement, disability and survivor benefits; member services (including the
call and correspondence centers); and employer reporting processes. Ms. Plett joined CalSTRS in
1987 and spent more than 10 years serving as the Deputy CEO over Administrative Services at
CalSTRS prior to moving to Benefits and Services.
A longtime advocate for improved customer service and quality in state government, she also worked
for the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office, the State Personnel Board and the
Department of Consumer Affairs earlier in her career.
Born in the heart of California's Central Valley, Ms. Plett earned an associate's degree from
Merced College, a bachelor's degree in Rhetoric from the University of California, Davis and a
Master of Public Administration degree from Golden Gate University. She has also earned a
certificate in Quality Management from American River College. She lives in Sacramento with her
husband Fred and children Christopher and Kelleigh.
