Starting Feb. 6, 2009, CalSTRS headquarters in Sacramento will be closed the first and third Friday
of each month under an executive order issued by Governor Schwarzenegger. The Governor directed a
furlough of state employees two days a month as a cost savings to the state budget. The furloughs
are currently planned to continue through June 30, 2010.
This closure includes staff who answer the toll-free information numbers for CalSTRS Customer Service
and CalSTRS Pension2® and those who respond to e-mails and other correspondence.
Counseling Offices Remain Open
Regional benefits counseling offices,
which are staffed by contract employees, will remain open throughout the state. Telephone counseling
services and the Sacramento counseling office will be closed on furlough days.
