
Janice Hanson
Since October 2004, Chief Technology Officer Janice Hanson
has headed Enterprise Initiatives and Technology, which is
composed of both Information Technology Services and the Project
Management Office.
Ms. Hanson began her civil service career shortly after graduating
from high school and has worked for a variety of government
agencies throughout the last two decades. She entered the
technology field in 1990 as a computer programmer for the
California Youth Authority and in 1997 transferred to CalSTRS
to work on the START Project (the conversion of the corporate
database from an IDMS platform to an ADABAS/Natural platform).
Following the implementation of the corporate database, Janice
was promoted to a Data Processing Manager III and assumed
the responsibility of the Application Development Team, managing
the maintenance and development of all mainframe fixes and
enhancements.
She recently completed the Information Technology Managers'
Academy, a state training program for executive development.
Ms. Hanson lives in Walnut Grove with husband Don and two
sons, John and Donald Jr. She serves as the vice-chair of
the Friends of the Arts, a volunteer group dedicated to increasing
the awareness and visibility of the visual and performing
arts programs at Christian Brothers High School, where her
youngest son is a student.
