Janice Hanson
Janice Hanson is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Enterprise Initiatives and Technology,
which is composed of Information Technology Services, Enterprise Architecture and the Project
Management Office.
Ms. Hanson is a life-long public servant employed by the State of California for more than
twenty-five years and a CalSTRS employee since 1997. She began her career with CalSTRS working
on the START project and has held a variety of leadership positions during this time. In 2004,
she was appointed to the Executive team and is currently responsible for providing oversight
for enterprise projects, ensuring information technology operations are aligned with CalSTRS
lines of business, and that business needs are being met by technology capabilities.
Ms. Hanson is a native Californian and lives in Walnut Grove with her husband, Don; they have
two sons, John and Donald, Jr. She also serves as the Chief Financial Officer of their family
owned business.
