Chair Dana Dillon is an intermediate grade school teacher from Weed. She has served on the board
since her election in 2003, and as vice-chair the last two years. Ms. Dillon has been active in the California Teachers
Association for more than 24 years, serving as state council representative, and was recently elected to the board of
directors.

Vice-chair Jerilyn Harris is an award-winning science teacher with more than 25 years experience
teaching in Ukiah and Beverly Hills. She retired from teaching in 2002. Ms. Harris is former chair of the California
Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Kathy Brugger has spent more than 13 years on the board of Chaffey College in San Bernardino County.

Harry M. Keiley is a high school teacher with the Santa Monica-Malibu
Unified School District, and was elected to the Teachers’ Retirement Board in 2007.
He has served as the president of Santa Monica-Malibu Classroom Teachers Association and chairman
of the California Teachers Association Political Involvement Committee.

Roger Kozberg of Beverly Hills is a retired senior vice president of Marsh Risk &
Insurance Services, and is also a director of the public TV station KCET in Los Angeles. His previous government
service includes stints as chair of the California Transportation Commission and president of the California Science Center Board.

Peter Reinke is Director of Civic Purpose at Head-Royce School in Oakland where he also teaches
American History and Government. He serves as board president for Clausen House, an agency that supports those with
developmental disabilities. Mr. Reinke is past vice-president of Oakland's Public Ethics Commission and formerly
served on the legislative staff of United States Senator John Chafee, working on children's and ethics issues.

Carolyn Widener is an English professor at West Los Angeles College, executive vice president
of the Los Angeles College Faculty Guild and past chair of the Teachers' Retirement Board. After originally being appointed
to the board in 2001, she was elected to represent community college educators in 2004.

John Chiang earned a degree in Finance from the University of South Florida and his law degree from the
Georgetown University Law Center. His career began as a Tax Law Specialist with the I.R.S. and served as an attorney with the
Office of the State Controller. Mr. Chiang served on the Board of Equalization from 1998 - 2002 and served as the chair of the
Streamlined Sales Tax Project’s Board of Governors.

Michael C. Genest began his career in California government working for the non-partisan
Legislative Analyst's Office in 1981 before moving to the Department of Social Services. He has also served as
assistant deputy director for prevention services at the California Department of Health Services and chief
executive officer reporting to the state health officer.

Bill Lockyer served as California Attorney General from 1999-2006. Prior to his election as Attorney
General, he served for 25 years in the California Legislature, including a stint as Senate President pro Tempore. A graduate
of the University of California, Berkeley, Lockyer earned his law degree from McGeorge School of Law while serving in the State
Senate and also holds a teaching credential from CSU, Hayward.

Jack O'Connell served for two decades in the California State Legislature representing the
Central Coast before serving as California's 26th State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Prior to his state service,
he taught at his high school alma mater and later served on the Santa Barbara County School Board. Mr. O'Connell has
served on the CalSTRS board since his election to office in 2002.
