Board Election Coming Your Way
Ballots Due November 30
Board election ballots were mailed October 1st to active Defined Benefit Program members and Cash Balance Benefit Program participants. If you are eligible to vote, you have until November 30, 2007, to vote by mail, phone or Internet for two representatives to the Teachers’ Retirement Board.
The elected Board terms run from January 1, 2008, to December 31, 2011. One representative must be a K-12 educator who is not an administrator — called K-12 (non-administrator); the other representative must be a K-12 educator who may be an administrator — called K-12 (inclusive).
As the single candidate for the community college position, Carolyn A. Widener was certified as a board member-elect. No community college position election will be held in 2007.
Voter Eligibility
You are eligible to vote if you are a Defined Benefit member or Cash Balance participant employed by a K-12 school district, county office of education or community college district during the 2006-07 school year between July 1, 2006, and June 30, 2007. If you qualify to vote and have not received a ballot, please call the special toll-free number for election ballot issues at 800-218-4026.
Candidates
Six candidates qualified for two seats on the CalSTRS Board. Three are candidates to represent the K-12 (non-administrator) position, and three are candidates to represent the K-12 (inclusive) position. Candidate statements are provided in the mailed ballots and at www.CalSTRS.com/election.
