Important Tax Information Coming in As of February 6, 2007, you should have received your 2006 Form 1099-R in the mail, which includes all payments made to you by CalSTRS in 2006. You need this form to complete your 2006 tax return. What If You Haven’t Received Your 2006 Form 1099-R? If you haven’t received your Form 1099-R in the mail, you can print a duplicate from myCalSTRS on our website if you are a registered user. You can also contact CalSTRS by phone, fax or e-mail. What Payments are Included on Your 2006 Form 1099-R? The 2006 Form 1099-R reflects amounts paid during the 2006 tax year, regardless of the month in which the amounts were earned. The 2006 Form 1099-R includes payments issued from January 1, 2006, through December 31, 2006. What if You Receive A CalSTRS Letter Regarding Your Tax Information? Occasionally, a member will receive overpayment of monthly CalSTRS benefits that must be repaid. Repayment of an amount that was previously reported as income may entitle the member to recover taxes paid in the current year. When the overpayment occurred and when the repayment took place dictate how we handle this issue. In some instances, once the member makes a repayment, we reply with a letter acknowledging receipt of the repaid amount in addition to the Form 1099-R. << Previous Article || Next Page >> [1][2] |
