When you retired, you may have elected an option, which will provide an ongoing monthly benefit to a loved one after your death. Based on a survey of our members and analyses of other retirement systems, CalSTRS has reduced the complexity of the option choices in the Defined Benefit Program and the annuities in the Defined Benefit Supplement Program and the Cash Balance Benefit Program.
