Retroactive Benefit Adjustments $10 & Under

CalSTRS benefit recipients began receiving a message on their February 29, 2008 or March 1, 2008, monthly allowance check stub or direct deposit advice stating that beginning April 1, 2008, and thereafter; monthly benefits with a retroactive adjustment causing an underpayment or overpayment of $10 or less will not be paid or collected.

EFFECTIVE APRIL 1, 2008, CALSTRS WILL HANDLE BENEFIT
ADJUSTMENTS DIFFERENTLY. WE WILL NO LONGER PAY OR
COLLECT RETROACTIVE ADJUSTMENTS UNTIL THE TOTAL
ADJUSTMENT AMOUNT REACHES MORE THAN $10. A DETAILED
ADJUSTMENT LETTER WILL BE MAILED TO THOSE ACCOUNTS
WITH RETROACTIVE ADJUSTMENTS.
