The 2005 annual statements of account are now in the mail to active and inactive Defined Benefit
Program members. All 560,000 Defined Benefit statements should be delivered by December 23. The 2005
annual statements of account for Cash Balance Benefit Program participants were mailed in late
November.
Each statement gives vital personal data used to calculate retirement benefits. Members and
participants are encouraged to check their information for accuracy. Correcting errors now will ensure
an accurate and timely retirement benefit. Go to
www.CalSTRS.com/CalSTRSAnnualStatement
for instructions on how to submit or report discrepancies or corrections.
In addition to hard copy in the mail, each Defined Benefit member or Cash Balance participant can view
his or her own annual statement of account online at myCalSTRS.

Recognizing the journey to retirement has many milestones along the way, the hard copy Defined Benefit
annual statement of account mailed this year is included in a larger brochure, Retirement Progress
Report. The brochure includes personalized member account data as well as a retirement planning guide.
A special feature of the planning guide for members over age 45 are retirement benefit estimates for
their own Defined Benefit account and the Defined Benefit Supplement account.
