We are here to help

Every day brings new developments related to the coronavirus, and the uncertainty can be unsettling. During these challenging times, we want you to know that the health and wellness of our members and staff are our top priorities. We remain committed to securing the financial future of California’s educators. You can rely on us to pay your benefits and help you prepare for retirement.

Benefit payments – direct deposit

Your CalSTRS benefit will continue to be safe, secure and delivered on time. To provide the most seamless deposit of funds, we encourage members to enroll or update your direct deposit information on your myCalSTRS account. You may also do so by filling out this form and mailing it to us.

Please note: Due to the State of California’s response to COVID-19, statements for direct deposit will not be printed and mailed for March. Retirees and beneficiaries will still receive benefits via direct deposit, and those who receive payment by mail will still receive a check.

Member services

In accordance with Governor Newsom’s directive on social distancing, our member service centers are closed. Previously scheduled individual planning sessions and group benefit meetings will be held remotely or by telephone. In-person workshops have been canceled. See our COVID-19 resources page for the most current information on how to participate in your planning sessions, or attend a workshop via webinar.

We remain available for member inquiries and questions about appointments by calling 800-228-5453 between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

CalSTRS operations

Most of our employees are working remotely at this time. We will continue to carry out essential business functions of the organization.

CalSTRS will continue to closely monitor the developing situation and maintain contact with the California Department of Public Health, the national Centers for Disease Control and the California Department of Human Resources. We are following their guidance and direction, and you can find the latest information on our response on our COVID-19 resources page.

We apologize for any inconvenience and we appreciate your patience as we navigate this changing environment. Thank you and stay safe.
