EIC96-7 Volume 12 Issue 7
1997 STRS Employer Institute
The purpose of this circular is to inform you that the State Teachers’ Retirement System (STRS) will be presenting two Employer Institutes in the Spring of 1997. These will be the two Institutes held this year. The Southern California Institute will be held at the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley, 8757 Rio San Diego Drive, San Diego, CA 92108 on April 10 and 11, 1997. The Northern California Institute will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel – Santa Rosa, 3555 Round Barn Boulevard, Santa Rosa, CA 95403 on May 22 and 23, 1997.
The Institutes will be offered again as a complete two-day conference. Past experiences have proven that the full benefit of the information available at the Institute cannot be obtained by attending one day only. The first day’s presentations will not be repeated on the second day’s agenda.
The most popular workshops are being offered on the first day with no competition from other workshops. The basic workshops have been broken down into smaller, more specific sections which will allow attendees to better customize the level of detail and topics of information that they will obtain at the Institute. This year we have revised the agenda. On the first day of the conference we extended the time to finish our last workshop at 4:45pm. On the second day Survivor Benefits, Accounting, and Disability/Rehabilitation workshops are only offered one time.
This year we are offering a demonstration on the new REAP software process and the Internet process. Workshops the second day are scheduled to end at 1:20pm with lunch taking place immediately after the last workshop. We hope these changes in the agenda will be favorable to our attendees.
An area located close to the registration table will be available Thursday and Friday with STRS staff available for questions on specific problem areas and cases.
We hope you will join us for an event that demonstrates knowledge is power.
Employer Information Circulars [EIC] are sent to school district and community college employers as informal guidance that provides immediate information on a single topic.
