Dana Dillon Elected Chair of CalSTRS Board
Harry Keiley returns as elected Vice-Chair

 West Sacramento, CA  Trustees of the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) unanimously elected Dana Dillon as chair and Harry Keiley as vice-chair for the 2011-12 term at their board meeting, Friday April 8, 2011.

The 12-member Teachers’ Retirement Board nominates and elects its chair and vice-chair annually. Trustees serve four-year terms. The officers provide leadership to the board as they develop policies and provide direction for the nation’s largest teacher pension fund. The new officers assume their posts immediately.

Dana Dillon is an intermediate grade school teacher from Weed. She has served on the board since her election in 2003, including previous stints as chair and vice-chair. On the board, she has chaired the Audits & Risk Management, Appeals and Legislative committees. Dillon has been active in the California Teachers Association for more than 26 years, serving as state council representative, and was recently elected to the board of directors.

Harry M. Keiley is a high school teacher with the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, and was elected to the Teachers’ Retirement Board in 2007. On the board, he has chaired the Compensation and Investment committees. Keiley has served as the president of Santa Monica-Malibu Classroom Teachers Association and as chair of the California Teachers Association Political Involvement Committee.

The California State Teachers’ Retirement System, with a $150 billion portfolio, administers retirement, disability and survivor benefits for California’s 852,000 public school educators and their families from the state’s 1,600 school districts, county offices of education and community college districts.
