To estimate your retirement benefit, you will need
your current service credit (found on your current Annual
Statement of Account) and your current salary.
- Retirement Benefit Calculator
Estimate your retirement benefits under the Defined Benefit Program.
- The Defined Benefit Supplement Program allows members
to receive a lump sum or a monthly annuity at retirement
if the account balance is at least $3,500. The DBS
Annuity Estimate table allows you to learn more about
the annuities available and provides an estimate for each
annuity type based on various account balances and age
at retirement.
You can redeposit if you return to CalSTRS membership or are a member of certain other California public
retirement systems or if your former spouse or registered domestic partner withdrew contributions as part of a community
property settlement. You can choose to purchase a portion, rather than all, of the service credit represented by the refund.
- Redeposit
Calculator
Estimate the cost to restore all or a portion of the service credit represented by the refund or your withdrawn
CalSTRS retirement funds or by your former spouse or registered domestic partner.
You can purchase additional service credit for performing certain other, non-CalSTRS activities.
You may choose to purchase a portion, rather than all, of any permissive service credit you have eligibility
to purchase. See the Purchase Additional Service Credit brochure for more information.
CalSTRS Defined Benefit Program members who have at least five years
of credited service in CalSTRS, may purchase up to five years of nonqualified
service credit. Nonqualified service credit, also known as air time,
is service credit that is not connected to any specific prior employment.
This service does not count towards qualifying for career-based enhancements
such as the career factor, the longevity bonus and highest single year
final compensation.
Estimate how much your payments would be if you financed the purchase of service credit or the redeposit of
previously withdrawn CalSTRS funds.
To use either of the calculators below, first determine the overall cost of your purchase by using the permissive service credit calculator or the redeposit calculator.
