William “Bill” Perez is the chief benefits officer at CalSTRS, the largest educator-only pension fund in the world. Perez provides high-level oversight and management of all retirement, disability and survivor benefits, member account services, benefits planning and customer contact program operations in leading CalSTRS’ largest branch. His position reports directly to CalSTRS’ Chief Operating Officer Cassandra Lichnock.

Perez joined CalSTRS as the chief benefits officer in November 2019. Prior to that time, he was the director of contact center operations at Delta Dental for more than five years. Perez, who has more than two decades of managerial experience in customer service and contact center operations, also has experience in the investment management industry, including with Vanguard, TIAA-CREF and Charles Schwab.

Perez has a bachelor’s degree in pre-dentistry studies from the University of Florida and is certified as an operations manager by the International Customer Management Institute.
